Outline of Research at the Start	動物病院に来院したヨツユビハリネズミの間で皮膚腫瘤の症例が多く散見されている。ヒトの皮膚腫瘤の原因の１つである乳頭腫（癌の一種）はパピローマウイルス（PV）の関与が明らかとなっているが、ヨツユビハリネズミの乳頭腫とPVとの関連性は不明であった。申請者はこれまでの研究において、２例のヨツユビハリネズミの乳頭腫からPVを世界で初めて検出し、その全ゲノム配列を決定した。以上を踏まえ、1) 疫学調査により本ウイルスの国内の流行状況を明らかにすることおよび 2) 発癌の検証と癌遺伝子の同定を目的として本研究に取り組みたい。得られる成果は、ハリネズミの乳頭腫における診断方法や治療法開発に寄与できる。
