Outline of Research at the Start

転写の最終段階である転写終結は遺伝子発現の制御だけでなく、3’末端の異なる転写産物のバリエーションを生み出したり、ゲノムの安定性を維持したりする機構として近年注目されている。一方で転写終結は構造生物学的にはほとんど研究が進んでいない。転写終結に関連する一部のタンパク質複合体しか構造が解かれておらず全体像が不明であることから、本研究ではRNAPIIと転写終結因子群複合体の構造解析とケミカルバイオロジー的な手法を組み合わせることにより転写終結のメカニズムを解明し、mRNAのプロセッシング、転写終結の全貌を明らかにする。
