Outline of Research at the Start

土壌に棲む微小な節足動物であるトビムシ類は「大地のプランクトン」とも称され、高い種多様性と個体数密度を持ち、分解者として陸域生態系の機能に関わっている。トビムシ類には形態的には同一種に分類されていながら、実際には遺伝的交流のない集団、すなわち隠蔽種が多数存在している。本研究では、ゲノムワイドな一塩基多型解析による隠蔽種（野外における生殖隔離）の検出と、交配実験による検証、隔離における地理的要因（特に距離）の影響を検討する。これにより、土壌小型節足動物における種分化の過程への理解を深め、土壌の生物多様性を生み出す機構の一端を明らかにしようとするものである。
