Outline of Research at the Start	アカンタリア類は硫酸ストロンチウムの骨格を持つ原生動物で、海洋水柱中に出現するプランクトンである。この分類群は、採集後に水溶液中で保存すると、骨格が直ちに溶解して消失し、現場海域で出現していたにもかかわらず、その痕跡が消えてしまう。そのため、定量的な調査・研究が進まずに、食物連鎖や物質循環における役割についても推測できない状況である。そのような問題を克服するために、乾燥状態で保存された標本を使用し、アカンタリア類の出現量と分類群組成を明らかにする。
