Outline of Research at the Start

がんの末期では食欲が減退し, 筋肉も減少して深刻な栄養不良に陥ります. この状態ではがんの治療が難しくなりますし, この栄養不良自体でも命を落としかねません. グレリン受容体が活性化されると, 食欲が増すとともに成長ホルモンの分泌が促されます. そのため, グレリン受容体を活性化させれば, がん末期の栄養不良を治療できると期待されます. グレリン受容体を活性化させる薬は既に臨床で使われていますが, この研究ではこの薬と併用することで効果を増強し副作用を低減する新しい薬の創製を目指します.
