Outline of Research at the Start

プロスタグランジンを合成する酵素であるシクロオキシゲナーゼは、腫瘍の形成や転移に関わることが報告されている。また、プロスタグランジンは、がん病態のみならず、大うつ病などの精神疾患において、抑うつ症状の発現に関わることが報告されている。本研究課題では、研究代表者が作製した、がん病態を模倣するモデルマウスにおける腫瘍内のシクロオキシゲナーゼが、全身炎症やうつ様行動の発現に関与する可能性を、その阻害薬を使用して明らかにする。本研究課題の達成により、腫瘍内の因子が脳機能に影響を与える可能性があることを明らかにでき、がん病態における精神症状の新たな創薬ターゲットの発見につながると考えられる。
