Outline of Research at the Start	新たな医薬品開発の基礎研究として、新規性の高い構造の天然化合物の発見が極めて重要である。いかにして真に新しい構造の天然化合物を獲得するかが課題であるが、最良の方法は、いまだ研究されていない生物を素材とすることである。本研究では、医薬品シーズ探索の素材として、十分に研究されていない海洋生物共生渦鞭毛藻と、全く研究されていない渦鞭毛藻共生細菌から、真に新しい構造の天然化合物を見つけだし、生物活性評価や構造活性相関の研究を行うことにより、画期的新薬の開発につながりうる新しいタイプの医薬品シーズを獲得する。
