Outline of Research at the Start

低分子医薬品が果たす役割は今後とも大きいが、新たな医薬品モダリティとして低分子医薬から中分子医薬が派生していくと考えられる。このような背景のもと、未だ未解明の遺伝資源の有効利用により、その主要成分の構造と生物活性の多様性解明を目指すことは天然物化学の分野においても、非常に意義深いものと考えられる。熱帯の多様な遺伝資源を利用することで、特異な環骨格を有する低中分子の活性天然物を探索し、それらの構造と機能性を解明する。
