Outline of Research at the Start

メンケス病は銅の吸収・分布ができず、中枢神経障害など銅欠乏に由来する重篤な症状を呈する先天性の希少疾患である。現在、ヒスチジン銅による治療が行われているが、その効果は十分ではない。本研究では、より効率的に脳に銅を送達できる化合物を見出し、製剤的な工夫を施すことで、生涯に亘る薬物治療が必須であるメンケス病患者が継続して使用しやすい薬剤を創出することを目的とする。
