Outline of Research at the Start	初期段階の2型糖尿病では、膵β細胞におけるインスリン合成の増大により小胞体がストレスを受けた状態にある。このストレスに対しする応答により細胞内の還元型パースルフィドが増加する。これにより種々のタンパク質のシステイン残基に硫黄原子が付加され酵素活性等が調節されることが知られている。しかしながらインスリンに硫黄が付加した超硫黄化（ポリスルフィド化）インスリンについての検討はこれまでにほとんど行われていない。この研究では2型糖尿病と血清超硫黄化インスリンとの関連、さらにはSS-INSの生理的機能を明らかにする。これにより2型糖尿病の修飾療法開発への展開が期待される。
