Outline of Research at the Start	肺胞上皮細胞は、ガス交換やサーファクタントの産生といった恒常性維持に関する役割についてはよく知られているが、肺炎などに伴う肺組織障害時における役割については不明な点が多い。我々は最近、遺伝子改変マウスを用いた肺障害モデルにおいて、肺組織障害後の修復期に肺胞上皮細胞が中心的な役割を果たす過程を見出した。本研究では、肺障害というストレス環境下における肺胞上皮細胞の機能的変化に着目し、肺組織の修復および再生を制御する機構の解明を目指す。
