Outline of Research at the Start

LEE陽性のEHECには、T3SS で分泌されるeffector群だけでなく、溶血毒素やプロテアーゼなどの病原因子に加えて、転写因子やtRNAなどの遺伝子もゲノムに蓄積している。これらの遺伝子は水平伝播によってそれぞれ独立に獲得されている。LEE領域自体も水平伝播しており、様々な系統のEHECに存在するが、LEE陽性株にのみ病原性関連遺伝子の蓄積が起こっている。LEE領域と共起分布する遺伝子群（LEE領域遺伝子コミュニティ）は、LEE領域と協調して病原性やニッチ獲得に寄与していると推測される。本研究は、LEE領域遺伝子コミュニティの網羅的同定と機能解析を行うことで、その全容解明を目指す。
