Outline of Research at the Start

膵がんは肝がんとともに糖尿病によるリスク上昇幅が最も大きいがんである。しかし、糖尿病が膵がんを増加させるメカニズムは必ずしも明らかになっていない。肝がんについては、我々はこれまでにMASH (Metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis) 肝がんの動物モデルにおいて、腸上皮におけるインスリンシグナルが腸内細菌叢の異常を改善し、肝発癌を抑制することを明らかにしている。膵臓も膵管などを経由して肝臓同様に腸内環境の影響を受ける臓器であり、本課題においても腸内環境の制御を介した糖尿病合併膵がんの予防・治療戦略に関連する機序解明を目指す。
