Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、I型膜糖タンパク質であるglycoprotein nonmetastatic melanoma protein B（GPNMB）の翻訳後修飾に着目し、GPNMBの機能に与える影響を明らかにし、GPNMBによるがん幹細胞性誘導とがん細胞可塑性への理解を深め、将来的に新たな治療標的を創出することを目的とする。そのために、GPNMBを標的とした抗体作製、低分子化合物のスクリーニングなどを行い、GPNMBの機能を阻害することで治療薬としての有効性の検討、または診断薬への応用可能性について検討する。
