Outline of Research at the Start

タウの異常凝集体（タウ病理）は、認知症発症の実行分子とされており、その形成を抑制することは、認知症に対する画期的な治療薬の開発につながると期待されている。これまでに我々は、特定の遺伝的背景をもつタウ遺伝子改変マウスにおいて、タウ病理が形成されにくい「認知症になりにくい特性」が獲得されることを明らかにし、その責任分子の候補を同定した。本研究では、この分子の機能解析を通じて、タウ病理形成の抑制メカニズムを解明し、認知症の新たな治療法の開発につなげることを目指す。
