Outline of Research at the Start

Down症候群（Down syndrome: DS）は、21番染色体トリソミーに起因する最も頻度の高い染色体疾患で、本邦では出生約600人に一人の割合であり欧米諸国に比べ頻度が高い。DS成人期においては自己免疫疾患ならびに精神疾患の合併が多いが、近年DSに認められる自己免疫異常が相次いで報告され、精神症状の発症にも自己免疫異常が関与している可能性が示唆されている。本研究によりDS成人期病態への自己免疫異常の関与が明らかとなり、精神症状を含む合併症が血清学的に診断可能となれば、治療法の開発への糸口になる可能性がある。
