Outline of Research at the Start

一酸化炭素(以下CO)中毒には急性中毒の他に、回復後や無症状の後に、数週間して、重い認知機能低下などの精神神経症状をきたす間歇型CO中毒を起こすことがありますが、その発症機序や有効な治療法はまだよくわかっていません。
この研究は、間歇型CO中毒モデル動物を用いて、免疫や神経細胞の保護などに関連するとされるミクログリアという細胞のCO中毒による変化を確認すること、さらに現在認知症の治療薬として用いられている薬剤を投与することによるCO中毒に対する改善効果やミクログリアの変化を調べ、間歇型CO中毒のメカニズムを解明し、新しい診断方法や、バイオマーカー、また治療方法を発見することを目的としています。
