Outline of Research at the Start

さまざまな慢性疼痛に対し、保存的治療あるいは手術などが行われるが、充分な効果が得られないこもが多い。2013年奥野らは、肩関節周囲炎や変形性膝関節症などの慢性疼痛に対し、疼痛部に増生した炎症性微小血管を経動脈的に塞栓することにより疼痛を改善させるという手技を世界で初めて報告した。その後この手技は徐々に世界に拡がり、多数の論文報告が出るまでになっている。しかし、この鎮痛機序はまだ不明であり、使用する塞栓物質についてもどの様な性質が適切なのかも不明である。本研究の目的は、豚の関節炎モデルを作製し、微小血管塞栓術を行い、病理学的に有効性と安全性を評価することである。
