Outline of Research at the Start

ノロウイルスは乳幼児の胃腸炎の主たる原因ウイルスだが、国際的に承認されたワクチンはない。また、乳幼児は成人と比較して免疫機能が幼若なためワクチンによる免疫誘導効果は低く、複数回のワクチン接種を必要とする。これらの課題を解決するため、乳幼児免疫に最適化したアジュバント（免疫増強物質）として申請者が見出したザイモサン、あるいはその主成分である可溶性βグルカンを用い、ノロウイルスのウイルス様粒子（VLP）をワクチン抗原とした経鼻ノロウイルスワクチンを開発した。本研究ではその有用性をミニブタを用いて検証する。
