Outline of Research at the Start

切除不能食道扁平上皮癌の治療成績は不良であり、その主な原因の一つは抗癌薬に対する治療抵抗性である。本研究では、食道扁平上皮癌の癌幹細胞様細胞（Cancer Stem-like Cell：CD44high/CD24low）におけるCDKN3の役割に着目し、Cancer Stem-like CellでCDKN3を阻害することによる抗癌薬治療抵抗性克服の機序を解明する。マウスを用いた前臨床試験を行い切除不能食道扁平上皮癌の新規治療戦略としてCDKN3阻害薬を開発することを目的とする。本研究により抗癌薬治療抵抗性を克服する新規薬剤が開発され切除不能食道扁平上皮癌の治療成績向上を実現できると期待される。
