Outline of Research at the Start

潰瘍性大腸炎（UC）は、宿主因子と、食事や腸内細菌叢の異常などの環境因子とが複雑に関与し、再発・寛解を繰り返す大腸粘膜障害を呈す疾患であるが、その正確なメカニズムは未解明の部分が多い。本研究では、腸内細菌培養を用いたin vitro実験系を軸に、動物実験を併用し、UCの腸内細菌による腸管上皮障害の分子学的機序の解明を行う。UCにおける腸内細菌の異常による腸管上皮の細胞障害を制御するメカニズムが解明されれば、これまで不明であったUCの病態の解明や治療への応用が期待され、波及効果は大きい。
