シトステロール血症コホートは世界的にも存在せず、新規分子発見は我が国独自の研究として高い価値を創出し得る。またシトステロール血症については我が国を含む東アジア地域で頻度が比較的高いため、我が国のゲノムコホートの調査研究により、さらに類似例が確認される可能性が高いため、ヒトにおける機能解析を進めるにあたり優位性が高い。さらには新規分子が動脈硬化性疾患抑制に寄与し得る新たなターゲット分子であることが、本研究により示されれば、動脈硬化性疾患が世界的に死亡原因第一位であるが故に国際的に高く評価されることは自明である。
