Outline of Research at the Start

Von Willebrand factor (VWF)は、出血時に血管内皮下組織に血小板を捕捉・粘着させることで止血血栓を形成するタンパクである。VWFはまた、種々の炎症性病態にも関与する。申請者は近年、lipopolysaccharide (LPS)の気管内投与によるマウス細菌性肺炎モデルにおいて、VWFの欠損・抑制状態では肺の炎症が有意に軽減することを見出した。本研究では、VWFに加え、VWFと密に関連する因子である凝固第VIII因子（FVIII）や血小板の病態への関与を種々の炎症性肺疾患モデルを用いて検証する。この研究により、VWFの制御に焦点をあてた炎症性肺疾患の新規治療法を確立する。
