Outline of Research at the Start

近年、核酸医薬は新しい創薬モダリティ（創薬技術の方法・手段）として注目され、様々な疾患分野で臨床応用が期待されている。2024年6月までに20種類近くの核酸医薬が世界各国で承認されているが、皮膚ウイルス感染症に対する核酸医薬として実用に至るものは未登場していない。我々は表皮角化細胞のTLR3を標的とした、二本鎖RNAの外用核酸医薬の開発を目的とする。皮膚を透過できること、TLR3、MDA5、RIG-Iといったpattern recognition receptorに安定して結合できること、活性を保持して分解を抑制できることといった条件を満たす最短の短鎖二本鎖RNAの作成を目指す。
