抗がん剤副作用のうち脱毛は重要な問題であり、広く使われるタキサン系抗がん剤などにより起こる永久脱毛は早急に解決すべき課題である。この永久脱毛は毛母細胞の幹細胞損傷に起因するため、一時的な細胞周期の停止により幹細胞をアポトーシスから保護できる可能性が高い。強力な抗酸化物質であるαリポ酸誘導体は、頭皮への局所投与に適した安全性、抗がん剤の全身的作用への不干渉性を有し、薬効として局所的に頭皮における抗酸化・抗アポトーシスおよびG1期細胞周期停止を誘導する作用を有している。本研究の目的は、αリポ酸誘導体を用いて抗がん剤による永久脱毛予防治療を開発することである。
