Outline of Research at the Start

生活習慣病、特に高血圧は、男性の方が進行しやすく、心不全への進行や死亡のリスクが高い。女性においても閉経後にリスクの上昇を認めるが、明らかな原因は特定されておらず、性差を考慮した新しい治療法や予防法が求められている。
心臓などを守る働きのある「利尿ペプチド」というホルモンの機能不全が心不全の一因だと考えられているが、高血圧から心不全へと進行する過程で、このホルモンの働きと性差について不明な点が多い。
本研究では、心不全患者の検体や高血圧のラットを使って、高血圧から心不全が進む過程における利尿ペプチドの活性や代謝と性別との関係を検討し、新規治療や予防に繋げることを目標とする。
