本研究では, 大腸癌の臓器特異性転移に必要な, 癌細胞と転移先の周辺環境の特徴とその分子の解明を目指し, 同じヒト大腸癌細胞から樹立した高肝転移大腸癌細胞と高腹膜播種性転移大腸癌細胞を用いて, DNAマイクロアレイなどによって遺伝子的な違いを探索することで, それぞれの臓器の転移に関わる特異的な分子を明らかにする.
その解明のため, 転移に必要な癌細胞側と標的臓器側の特徴と分子について探索し, RNA干渉や遺伝子導入によるin vitro実験やマウスでの実験を行い, 解明した臓器特異性転移に関する分子に対して, 臨床病理学的な検証や新規の分子標的療法の可能性を明らかにする.
