Outline of Research at the Start

本研究が対象とする急性呼吸窮迫症候群 (ARDS) は未だ有効な治療薬が存在せず患者の40%は死に至る。全世界で5億人の感染者がでたCOVID-19では、ベッドで溺れるようだったという体験談を聞いた記憶も新しい。申請者は、肺胞に内在するポリアミンに「肺胞を膨らませるのに必要な界面活性」を増強させる作用があることを確認している。本研究では、呼吸器感染や誤飲等に誘発されるARDSモデルの呼吸不全をポリアミンが治療するか、あるいはARDSへの進行を予防するか明らかにする。
