Outline of Research at the Start	脳梗塞後の脳浮腫の発生自体を抑制する薬剤は未だ開発されていない。我々は、脳梗塞巣への好中球の浸潤数と重症度に相関関係があることを見出した。さらに、活性化好中球から産生されたIL-1aとTNFがアストロサイトにおけるAQP4の過剰発現を誘導し、脳浮腫を形成させること明らかにした。しかしながら、好中球の分極化や誘導因子については明らかになっていない。また、好中球の表現型が脳梗塞の病態進行にどのように関与しているのかも不明な点が多い。従って、本研究では脳梗塞後における好中球の分極化と病態進行への関与を明らかにし、脳梗塞後に活性化好中球を標的とした脳浮腫形成の抑制剤を開発することを目的とする。
