Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の目的は、慢性痛の代表的症状である腰下肢痛の本質の病態に迫るイメージング技術の開発である。現在の腰椎MRIなどの画像診断は形態を把握できるのみで、脊髄や馬尾神経機能そのものを評価できず、患者の痛みやしびれも反映されない。本研究での新たな目標は、脊髄神経機能および、他覚的かつ数値化できないが患者が最も苦痛に感じる痛みやしびれを、脳機能を用いて定量化・可視化することである。さらには手術前後の脳機能画像を測定し検討することで、治療経過も予測できるバイオマーカー開発を行う。
