Outline of Research at the Start

閉経後女性においては更年期症候群以外にも脂質異常症、糖代謝異常、動脈硬化などの様々な疾患や病態が惹起される。主にエストロゲンレベルの低下に起因すると推測されてきたが、その基礎的な根拠は未だ不明確である。近年では動脈硬化の原因となる脂質および糖代謝異常に生体内の概日リズムが密接に関連していることが報告されている。本研究では、時間生物学的な観点からもアプローチし、性ステロイドホルモンと概日リズムとの相互関連による動脈硬化関連因子の経時的変化および行動・体温リズム変化を検討することで老年期までを見据えた女性医学領域からの新たな予防的治療介入のための分子生物学的基盤を確立させる。
