Outline of Research at the Start

双胎間輸血症候群(TTTS)は致死率が高く胎児治療が行われるが、治療が奏功しても原因不明の胎児死亡が約20%の症例で生じる。我々はこれまでにヒトTTTS胎盤においてferroptosisの関与を強く示唆する結果を得ている。この結果を元にヒトiPS細胞から作製した胎盤オルガノイドを用いて病態を再現し治療薬探索を行う。Ferroptosisを抑制できる既存薬がTTTS治療後の胎児死亡を抑制できる可能性があるだけでなく、胎盤機能をサポートするための研究基盤を構築できる研究である。
