Outline of Research at the Start

顎矯正手術は、顎骨の種々の先天性疾患、発育異常などに幅広く 適用される。顎矯正手術後の後戻りの原因である進行性下顎頭吸収(Progressive Condylar Resorption:以下PCR)が大きな問題とされており、長い間その発症原因やメカニズムは明らかにされていなかった。近年より臨床に近いPCRモデルを作製し、その顎関節滑液内に炎症性サイトカインが過剰に発現しており、PCR発症の原因の1つであることを報告した。本研究ではPCRの新規治療法の確立をめざし、家兎のPCRモデルに生物学的製剤を投与し下顎頭吸収について多角的な解析を行い、PCRに対して生物学的製剤の予防的効果を実証する。
