Outline of Research at the Start

骨粗鬆症や悪性腫瘍の骨転移治療に用いる骨吸収抑制薬の副作用に顎骨壊死（MRONJ）がある。MRONJは骨吸収抑制薬による骨リモデリング異常と口腔特有の歯性感染による炎症が原因とされ、発症すると難治性である。我々は、分泌型白血球プロテアーゼ阻害因子（SLPI）が抗炎症、抗菌、骨形成促進作用を持つことに注目し、事前研究で歯周炎由来の骨リモデリング異常を改善する効果を確認した。本研究の目的は、SLPIのMRONJ発症予防の有無、およびSLPIが顎骨におよぼす作用を解明することであり、これはMRONJの病態メカニズムに基づいた発症予防および治療候補分子としてSLPIを世界で初めて提案することとなる。
