Outline of Research at the Start	閉経前後世代の女性は急速なエストロゲン減少により歯周炎のリスクが高くなることが知られている。エストロゲン欠乏により生じる骨粗鬆症が、歯周炎を悪化させる憎悪因子ともいわれている。しかしながら歯周炎下におけるエストロゲンの作用効果について詳細は未だに解明されておらず、補充により歯周炎の軽減あるいは予防など直接的な作用を期待できるのかは不明である。本研究の目的は卵巣摘出後、エストロゲン欠乏環境下で実験的な歯周炎を惹起させ「更年期型歯周炎」を発症したラットに17β-エストラジオールを投与する、または投与しない条件下で、ごく日常的な機械刺激を与えた場合、歯周炎組織にどのような影響があるのかを検証する。
