Outline of Research at the Start

歯石は、口腔内の健康に影響を及ぼすだけでなく、全身の健康とも密接に関連している。重症心身障害児（者）においても歯石除去は必要な処置であるが、それには多くの困難が伴う。具体的には、①特有の口腔内状態であること、②自力での開口が難しく、開口時には気管狭窄による呼吸抑制のリスクがあり、過開口による呼吸停止が生じること、そして③嚥下障害を合併するケースが多く、除石中の歯石の誤嚥リスクが高いことが挙げられる。本研究では、重症心身障害児（者）の特徴的な歯石形成に関わる細菌学的因子を明らかにし、重症心身障害児（者）を対象とした専門的口腔ケア方法の確立に寄与する基盤となる臨床研究を実施する。
