Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、近代日本において保健思想・生活文化として広く知られてきた「保養」概念の思想的展開過程を分析することによって病や障害の療養と生活への復帰という生産的生活への指向性をもった同概念がいかなる意義をもってとらえられたかを検証することを目的とする。「保養」の概念は、「養生」と同義に用いられていたが、近代期に入ると病弱児の保護や一般児童の鍛錬、結核や精神疾患患者の療養、社会復帰の概念として多義的に用いられた。この実態に歴史的、草創的考察を加え、現代日本の保健医療観や労働福祉思想、健康文化政策の今後のあり方とそこに伏在する課題においてどのような示唆を含むかを検討することを企図するものである。
