Outline of Research at the Start	大腸がんは、罹患者数・死亡数ともに上位に位置し、その予防が重要視されている。近年、食物繊維摂取は腸内細菌により代謝される短鎖脂肪（SCFAs）を介して大腸がんを予防するという知見が、ヒトおよび動物研究により明らかとなってきた。本研究では、大腸がんの個別化予防を目指し、2つの大規模研究基盤を用いて下記3つの課題を検討する。1）食物繊維摂取と大腸がんとの関連、2）SCFAs産生菌の層別化による食物繊維摂取と大腸腫瘍との関連、3）血中SCFAsと大腸腫瘍との関連。本研究の成果は、大腸がん予防のためのエビデンスとして貢献が期待される。
