Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では10年以上の大規模追跡調査を行っているThe Wakayama Spine Study （WSS）のデータを基に、腰椎すべり（LS）の発生、またもともとLSを有する者からの増悪について、可能性のある生活習慣・職業・体格、またX線・MRI・超音波検査の画像からそれぞれの危険因子を特定することを目的としている。WSSは、脊椎MRIを用いた1500人以上の追跡調査であり、脊椎退行変性疾患の自然経過を明らかにすることに特化しており海外を含め脊椎退行変性疾患のコホートとしては他の追随を許さない。WSSの追跡調査から得られたデータよりLSの自然経過を明らかにし将来の予防医学にも貢献したい。
