Outline of Research at the Start

長時間の眼部紫外線（UV）被ばくにより翼状片や白内障のリスクが増加することが報告されている。申請者らの調査結果から、成人後の移住者に比べて沖縄出身者では約6倍の翼状片リスク増加を見出している。白内障リスクにおいても沖縄出身者では核白内障で8.7倍、副病型のRetrodotsで3.1倍となることがわかっている。
本研究では上記の知見を追及・検討するとともに、小児期の眼部UV被ばくが成人後の翼状片および白内障発症リスクにどのように影響するかを明らかにすることを目的としている。特にUV被ばく量の正確な評価と、疾患発症との因果関係を解明することで、従来の研究では明らかにされていない新たな知見を提供する。
