Outline of Research at the Start

カンボジアにおける新生児の死亡は近年大幅に減少しているが、同国では定期的なフォローアップ体制がないために、生まれてまもなく治療を受けて退院した赤ちゃん達がその後どのように育っているかは不明である。この研究では、首都プノンペンにある国立母子病院新生児室を退院した全ての赤ちゃんを対象に、2歳のお誕生日を迎えるまで3か月ごとに健康診断を行い①発育および身体・精神的発達、②その間に発生する病気や障害の割合、③必要なフォローアップ体制のありかた、について調査する。それらの結果をもとに、乳幼児健康診断が公的に行われていない同国のような低中所得国で子どもがよりよく成長・発達できるために必要な対策を提言する。
