身体拘束が回避されるための院内システム(拘束回避の環境，職員教育，多職種連携，回避のための手順等)を開発する必要がある。金沢大学附属病院ではいち早く拘束ゼロを実現しており，本研究ではこのノウハウや学習する組織の法則(ピーター・センゲの学習論)を用いて,どの総合病院においても実施可能で有効な標準化した拘束回避の院内システムを開発することを目的としている。またこの有効性を検証し，研究成果の公表を通して国内外の病院へと波及させることを目指す。
