Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、19世紀前期のイギリスにおけるホッケーの展開の解明を目的とする。この目的を達成するため、以下の3点の研究課題に取り組む。1）少年遊戯書に記述されたホッケーの検討：19世紀前期のイギリスにおけるホッケーが、いかなるゲームとして記述され、描かれたのかについて、少年遊戯書を史料として検討する。2）事故、裁判関係記事に見られるホッケーの検討：ホッケーに関係する事故、裁判について報じた新聞、雑誌記事を主要史料として、このゲームの実態を描出する。3）スポーツ用具業者によるホッケー関連用具供給に関する検討：19世紀前半におけるホッケーの展開を支えたスポーツ用具業者による用具供給の実態を解明する。
