Outline of Research at the Start

褐色脂肪組織（以下、褐色脂肪）は、代謝的熱産生の特異的部位である。ヒト褐色脂肪の評価法を確立し、褐色脂肪が体脂肪や血糖の調節に関与すること、褐色脂肪を活性化・増量すれば、肥満を軽減できることを証明してきた。しかし、これらの大部分は男性被験者から得られた結果であり、女性での基本的知見は著しく不足している。本研究では、健常成人女性を対象に褐色脂肪を評価し、男性での知見と比較しながら褐色脂肪の性差の有無や女性特有の体脂肪分布や性周期・性ホルモンとの関係を明らかにする。これにより中高年女性の肥満や若年女性に多いやせへの対策のための手がかりを得たい。
