Outline of Research at the Start

超高齢社会を迎えた我が国において、サルコペニアの有効な治療・改善法は見当たらず、その解明は高齢者の寝たきり予防や健康寿命の増進に極めて重要である。脂質代謝酵素phospholipase A/ acyltransferase（PLAAT）は細胞分化や細胞内分解システムに関わる因子であることが明らかになってきたが、骨格筋における役割は不明である。申請者は「PLAATは骨格筋においてサルコペニアを改善する新規細胞内分解システムの標的分子である」との仮説を基に本研究を推進する。
