Outline of Research at the Start	サルコペニアの発症に腸内細菌叢による宿主ホメオスタシスの調節異常が大きく寄与していることが明らかとなっている。Faecalibacterium prausnitzii (FP)菌は、ヒトの健康増進作用を有する有用菌として知られており、特にインスリン感受性や同化バランスの改善、また全身性炎症の抑制に深く関わっている。本研究では、FP菌の筋細胞に対する分化誘導活性を担う責任分子を同定するとともに、FP菌による筋分化誘導メカニズムの解明を目指す。本研究の成果によって、サルコペニアを始めとした種々の代謝性疾患の予防を目的とした新たな医薬品や機能性サプリメントの開発を大きく活性化することが期待される。
