Outline of Research at the Start

加齢性皮膚掻痒症は、多くの高齢者が罹患する、明らかな皮膚の炎症を伴わない全身性の掻痒性疾患である。その痒みは抗ヒスタミン薬抵抗性であることからヒスタミン以外の起痒物質の関与が示唆されるが、具体的な分子はまだ特定されていない。一方、高齢者の血清や皮膚では、免疫細胞から放出されるグランザイム(Gzm)が増加し、標的細胞内に取り込まれ細胞死を誘導する以外にも様々な細胞外機能を果たすと示唆されている。今回、加齢性皮膚掻痒症において真皮内に増加しているGzmが痒みを引き起こすと仮説を立て検証する。本研究を通じて、加齢性皮膚掻痒症の痒みの機構解明に基づいた治療法が開発されることが期待できる。
