Outline of Research at the Start

本研究においては、計算理論の立場から凸普遍被覆問題を取り扱い、物体の集合が入力として与えられた場合、最小面積あるいは最小周長の凸普遍被覆を計算するアルゴリズムを考察し、集合の要素数ｎに対する計算複雑度に対する理論を構築する。
国際共同研究を主体とした理論研究が中核であり、韓国の浦項工科大学、ドイツのバイロイト大学などとの合同ワークショップにおいて数理的な議論を行い、研究を推進する。また、計算理論的に困難と予想される、より一般な図形の集合Sの最小面積普遍被覆を求める問題の多項式時間の計算可能性と近似可能性を追求し、ヒューリスティクスの設計と大学院学生による数理計画法を用いた実験も行う。
