誤解を招くテキスト（「何で来るの」）に対する正しい伝達（【『来るな』の意味】ではなく【手段の確認】）を促進するため、文面から想起される印象を起点に文書に対する書き手の心象（モダリティ）を推定、補完する技術の開発を行う。研究期間中に、文書から受ける印象の抽出と、印象からモダリティ推定する技術の開発、抽出・推定に必要な印象知識の拡充と、モダリティ分類知識の構築、コーパスの収集と、モダリティ推定実験による評価を実施する。
