Outline of Research at the Start

西アフリカのチンパンジーはユニークな文化をもつ。さらなる地域間比較が必要だが、近絶滅種でどこに生息しているかを確認するのも困難な状態にある。チンパンジーは保護区外にも生息する。本研究では、西アフリカの保護区外に生息する野生チンパンジーの文化的多様性を探るとともに、彼らを脅かす人為的かく乱がチンパンジーの行動へ与える影響を明らかにすることを目的とする。野生チンパンジーの文化的多様性に理解が深まるだけでなく、群れを守り、そこで育まれた独自の文化を守り、消失を防ぐ。遺伝的多様性の維持にも貢献する。地域住民との持続可能な共生に向けて保護管理体制の構築へとつなげていく。
